The Transformation Journey …

Whether you have inherited family heirlooms, outdated jewellery, or pieces that no longer suit your style, the repurposing process ensures that precious materials and memories are thoughtfully incorporated into new designs you’ll be proud to wear and pass down.

The Process

CONSULTATION

Your repurposing journey begins with a complimentary consultation where we’ll discuss your existing pieces and your vision for transformation. I’ll carefully examine your jewellery to assess which elements can be repurposed, and we’ll explore design possibilities that complement your style and preserve sentimental value. Consultations can be held in person or via video call, and you’re welcome to bring or send photos of multiple pieces if you’re considering combining elements.

DESIGN APPROVAL

After our consultation, I’ll create concept sketches and provide a detailed quote. Once you’re happy with the initial design direction, a £150-£200 design fee secures the creation of photorealistic CAD renderings. These digital visualizations allow you to see exactly how your new piece will look before any irreversible work begins, ensuring the design honours both your original pieces and your vision for their transformation.

CREATING YOUR PIECE

This is where your treasured pieces begin their transformation. I’ll carefully disassemble your original jewellery, preserving every usable element. Using traditional techniques alongside modern technology, I’ll craft your new piece with meticulous attention to detail. This includes expert resetting of your gemstones, refining and shaping precious metals, and ensuring every aspect of the new design maintains the highest quality standards.

YOUR FINISHED PIECE

Once your transformed jewellery is complete, I’ll send an electronic invoice for the remaining balance. After payment, your new piece will be beautifully presented in a custom box and delivered securely via Royal Mail Special Delivery, or you can arrange to collect it in person. Your repurposed jewellery will carry both its original sentimental value and a fresh new life, ready to be worn and cherished for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a repurposed piece cost?
Typically prices start from around £500. I try to reuse as much of your original jewellery as possible, which can significantly reduce the cost of your new piece. I always work to your budget, with no hidden costs—you will never be given an invoice you’re not expecting. If additional gemstones or metal is required, you will receive a quote before we proceed.
Can you use the stones from multiple pieces in one new design?
Absolutely! Combining elements from multiple pieces often creates the most meaningful repurposed jewellery. Whether you have several inherited items or a collection of unworn pieces, I can incorporate gemstones and metals from various sources into a cohesive new design that preserves all their sentimental value in a single, wearable piece.
What if some parts of my original jewellery aren't usable?
During the consultation, I’ll assess your pieces and advise which elements can be repurposed. For components that can’t be incorporated, I can suggest alternatives or additions. Any unused precious metals can be valued and offset against the cost of your new piece. For unusable gemstones, I can either return them to you or suggest ways they might be used in future projects.
Can you add new elements to my existing pieces?

Yes, I can enhance your original jewellery with new elements. Whether you’d like to add more diamonds to increase sparkle, incorporate colored gemstones for contrast, or combine two pieces into one design, I can suggest options that complement your existing materials while creating something fresh and contemporary.

Will I lose any of the original materials in the process?
While the repurposing process is designed to maximize the use of your original materials, some minimal loss of metal can occur during the crafting process, particularly when melting and reshaping. However, this is usually minimal. All gemstones will be carefully preserved unless they are damaged or unsuitable for resetting, which I’ll discuss with you during the consultation.
How do you determine what can be repurposed?
During our consultation, I’ll examine your pieces to assess the condition of the gemstones and metals. Factors I consider include the quality and condition of stones, the purity and amount of precious metal, and how these elements might work in a new design. Even pieces that seem beyond repair often contain valuable components that can be beautifully repurposed.
Can you create multiple new pieces from one original item?
Yes! A single piece with multiple gemstones or substantial precious metal can often be transformed into several new items. For example, a brooch with various stones might become a pendant and earrings, or a large gold necklace could be repurposed into a bracelet and ring. This approach is particularly meaningful for creating matching pieces for family members from a single heirloom.
How long does the repurposing process take?
Most repurposing projects take between four to eight weeks from consultation to completion, depending on the complexity of the design and the work required. If you have specific deadlines, please let me know during our consultation, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your timeline.
Do you offer lab-created gems to supplement my existing stones?
Absolutely! Lab-created gems can be an excellent choice to complement your existing stones, whether for budget considerations or ethical preferences. They’re virtually indistinguishable from natural stones and can be a perfect match for your repurposing project. I’m happy to show you options for both lab-created and natural gemstones.
What if I'm not local to you?
Distance isn’t an obstacle. We can conduct consultations via Zoom, WhatsApp, Facetime, or email. You can securely ship your pieces to me (I’ll provide guidance on insurance and packaging), and I’ll return your transformed jewellery via insured Royal Mail Special Delivery. Many clients find this process just as smooth and satisfying as in-person consultations.
How is the quality guaranteed?
I guarantee the workmanship and take responsibility for any structural defects for one year after delivery. All repurposed jewellery undergoes rigorous quality checks and receives official hallmarking. Your new piece will maintain or exceed the quality of your original jewellery, ensuring it will be enjoyed for generations to come.
When will I be asked to pay?
Our first consultation and subsequent drawings are free of charge. The “real life” CAD drawing cost of £150–£200 is payable once you’re happy with the design concept. When you approve the CAD drawings, design, and materials, I require a 50% deposit to begin the transformation. The balance is due when your new jewellery is completed, with the CAD drawing cost deducted from the final invoice. Payments can be made via PayPal or bank transfer.
